Adsorption of Cobalt (II) ion from Aqueous Solution on Selected Iraqi clay surfaces

الملخص

This work is concerned with one of application of adsorption behavior from
aqueous solution. It deals with the study of adsorption of Cobalt (II) ion on the
surfaces of Attapulgite, bentonite, and kaolin, which are provided locally in Iraq. The
purpose of this study is searching for surfaces that are highly applicable for Cobalt (II)
ion adsorption to treat the pollution of aqueous solution in nature by this heavy metal
ion .
This study also involves the feasibility of using (NH4SCN) (Ammonium
thiocyanate) for Visb-spectrophotometric determination of Cobalt (II) ion and to
determine the relation between the adsorption quantity of Cobalt (II) ion and
equilibrium concentrations (adsorption isotherm) in different conditions of
temperature ,ionic strength ,pH , practical size , and adsorbent weight .
