Abstract

A simple rapid and accurate spectrophotometric method is suggested for estimation of phenylephrine -HCl (PHE-H).The method included adding an excess amount (known) of Nbromosuccinamide (NBS) in an acidic medium to oxidize PHE-E and then the residual NBS was estimated by bleaching color of methyl orange dye(M.O), the intensity of bleaching dye at 518 nm was measured. The NBS amount react corresponds to PHE-H concentration in actual solution .Beer's law was obeyed in the range of 2-25 μg /20 ml with good molar absorptivity of 1.0705x 105l.mol-1.cm-1 The proposed method was applied successfully to determine PHE-H in
its pharmaceutical preparation.
